How long does smoke odor removal take?
Most Chicagoland homes are treated in a single overnight cycle — about 24 hours from when the BIOSWEEP units start to when you can re-enter. Larger homes or multi-source jobs may take two cycles.
Will the cigarette or cannabis smell come back?
Not when the source is fully resolved and the home has not been painted over the embedded smoke. About 9 out of every 10 jobs qualify for the full re-treatment guarantee — meaning if the odor returns, we come back at no charge. The two exceptions are painted-over smoke and pet-urine-soaked subfloors.
Do I need to leave my home during treatment?
Yes. The BIOSWEEP machines generate active oxidants that you and your pets should not breathe directly. Most clients schedule treatments overnight or while they’re away for the day.
How is BIOSWEEP different from ozone?
Ozone is a single agent that works on surfaces. BIOSWEEP runs a five-stage photocatalytic oxidation process that reaches further — into HVAC ducts, drywall, upholstery fibers, and the molecules behind paint. That is why ozone fades and BIOSWEEP is permanent.
Can BIOSWEEP handle cannabis smoke?
Yes. The molecular process is the same as cigarette smoke. We’ve treated condos, apartments, and homes in realtor listing prep where cannabis smoke had embedded over years.
What if the home has been painted before treatment?
Paint seals the smoke molecules into the wall, which blocks the BIOSWEEP process from reaching them. In those cases we’ll tell you on the phone, cut our price in half, and still treat everything we can reach. The treatment is still highly effective — we just cannot extend the written guarantee.
